Modo Indicativo - Aspectos Generales

What is the Indicative Mode?

The Indicative Mode (Modo Indicativo) is the most common grammatical mood in Spanish. It is used to express real, factual, and objective information; things that happen, have happened, or will happen in reality.

When people speak in everyday conversation, most of the time they are using the Indicative mode. Whether you're describing what you did yesterday, what you're doing right now, or what you plan to do tomorrow, you're using the Indicative.

Key Concept

If you're stating facts, describing reality, or talking about actual events (not wishes, doubts, or commands), you're using the Indicative mode.

📋 Note on Conditional Tenses

Conditional Simple and Conditional Compound are sometimes considered to belong to a separate category or even their own "Conditional mode" by some grammarians. However, in this learning platform, we've included them in the Indicative mode because they express events that could happen under certain conditions; still within the realm of reality and possibility.
