Welcome to LearnLantern. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the LearnLantern website, platform, scheduling tools, tutoring services, video classroom features, subscriptions, credits, and related services collectively referred to as the “Services.”
By creating an account, purchasing credits, booking a class, accessing the platform, or otherwise using LearnLantern, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Services.
These Terms are intended to apply internationally to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. If mandatory consumer protection laws in your country, state, or region provide rights that cannot legally be waived, those rights will continue to apply.
By using LearnLantern, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms. These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and LearnLantern.
If you are using LearnLantern on behalf of another person, organization, minor, or dependent, you represent that you have the authority to accept these Terms on their behalf.
LearnLantern is a language learning platform that connects students with tutors for personalized online language instruction.
Our Services may include:
LearnLantern may manage, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services when reasonably necessary for business, legal, technical, safety, or operational reasons.
LearnLantern does not guarantee that any particular tutor, class time, teaching method, language, feature, or result will always be available.
To use certain Services, you may need to create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to update your information when necessary.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account, unless the activity results from a security failure directly caused by LearnLantern.
You must be at least 13 years old to use LearnLantern.
If you are under the age of majority in your country, state, or region, you may use LearnLantern only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Parents and guardians are responsible for the activity of minors using the Services.
LearnLantern may require proof of parental consent when appropriate.
You agree to notify LearnLantern promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization or if your login credentials have been compromised.
LearnLantern is not responsible for losses caused by your failure to protect your account credentials, except where prohibited by applicable law.
LearnLantern may operate through a credit-based subscription model. Unless otherwise stated, one credit may be used to book one standard language lesson of approximately 55 minutes.
Credits are not cash, stored value, gift cards, banked funds, or prepaid money. Credits are a limited contractual right to book eligible LearnLantern classes, subject to tutor availability, platform policies, these Terms, and applicable law.
Credits may not be sold, transferred, exchanged for cash, withdrawn, or used outside the LearnLantern platform.
Unless otherwise stated in writing by LearnLantern, all credits expire nine months after the date they are issued, purchased, renewed, granted, or added to a user’s account.
Any credits that remain unused after nine months may expire automatically. Once expired, credits are no longer available for booking classes, have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and are not refundable except where required by applicable law.
Expired credits may be removed from the user’s account and retained by LearnLantern without refund, replacement, compensation, or extension, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
Users are responsible for monitoring their available credits and booking classes before the expiration date. LearnLantern may, but is not required to, provide reminders before credits expire.
Available plans, credit quantities, tutor pricing, and subscription options may vary depending on the tutor, location, promotion, or service type.
By purchasing a subscription, credits, or other paid Services, you authorize LearnLantern and its third-party payment processors to charge your selected payment method for the applicable fees, taxes, and charges.
Subscriptions may renew automatically unless cancelled before the next billing date.
It is the user’s responsibility to cancel the subscription before the next billing date if they no longer wish to continue using the Services.
Failure to cancel a subscription, forgetting to cancel, not using the platform, not booking classes, not attending classes, or allowing the subscription to renew automatically does not, by itself, constitute a valid reason for a refund.
Payment processing is handled by third-party payment providers. LearnLantern does not control all aspects of third-party payment systems and is not responsible for errors, delays, or failures caused solely by those providers.
LearnLantern may modify prices, subscription plans, fees, commissions, or platform charges from time to time.
For active subscriptions, material price changes will generally apply at the next billing cycle or after reasonable notice, unless immediate changes are required by law, tax rules, payment processor requirements, fraud prevention, or urgent operational needs.
Tutors may request changes to their rates, but LearnLantern may review, approve, reject, or adjust pricing displayed on the platform.
You are responsible for any taxes, duties, levies, or similar charges that may apply to your purchase, except for taxes based on LearnLantern’s income.
Where required, taxes may be calculated and collected at checkout.
New students may be eligible for one free or discounted trial class per tutor, depending on availability, tutor participation, and LearnLantern’s current policies.
Trial classes are intended for genuine evaluation of a tutor. Abuse of the trial system, including creating multiple accounts to obtain extra trials, may result in suspension, cancellation of bookings, loss of credits, or account termination.
LearnLantern may modify, limit, or discontinue trial classes at any time.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account dashboard or by contacting LearnLantern at: scheduling@learnlantern.com
Cancellation prevents future renewals but does not automatically refund the current billing period unless required by applicable law or expressly approved by LearnLantern.
It is the user’s responsibility to cancel the subscription before the next billing date if they no longer wish to continue using the Services.
Failure to cancel a subscription, forgetting to cancel, not using the platform, not booking classes, not attending classes, or allowing the subscription to renew automatically does not, by itself, constitute a valid reason for a refund.
LearnLantern may, at its reasonable discretion, review exceptional cases. However, refunds are not guaranteed and will not be provided merely because a user did not use their credits, forgot to cancel, did not understand that the subscription renews, or allowed the subscription to continue.
Nothing in this section limits any mandatory refund rights that may apply under consumer protection laws in the user’s jurisdiction.
Credits purchased, received, renewed, granted, or added to a user’s account must be used within nine months from the date they are issued, unless a different expiration period is clearly stated in writing by LearnLantern.
Any credits that remain unused for nine months may expire automatically.
Once expired, credits are no longer available for booking classes, have no cash value, cannot be transferred, cannot be exchanged, and are not refundable except where required by applicable law.
Expired credits may be removed from the user’s account and retained by LearnLantern without compensation, refund, credit replacement, or extension, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
Users are responsible for monitoring their available credits and booking classes before the expiration date.
LearnLantern may, but is not required to, provide reminders before credits expire.
LearnLantern may make exceptions, extensions, or accommodations in limited circumstances at its reasonable discretion, including verified medical emergencies, platform errors, or other exceptional situations.

LearnLantern may make exceptions in cases of emergency, verified technical failure, illness, or other circumstances at its reasonable discretion.
If a tutor cancels a class or fails to attend, the student will generally receive a credit refund, rescheduling option, or other remedy determined by LearnLantern.
LearnLantern may review repeated tutor cancellations and may take action, including warnings, reduced visibility, suspension, or removal from the platform.

LearnLantern may investigate suspected violations and may take appropriate action, including warnings, restrictions, cancellation of classes, suspension, or account termination.
Students and tutors are expected to attend classes on time and behave professionally.
Inappropriate conduct may include:
LearnLantern may determine, in good faith and based on available evidence, whether behavior violates these Terms.
LearnLantern may review tutor profiles, identity information, experience, qualifications, or teaching materials.
However, LearnLantern does not guarantee that all tutor-provided information is complete, current, accurate, or error-free.
Students are responsible for choosing tutors based on their own preferences, goals, and judgment.
Tutors provide educational services through the LearnLantern platform. The relationship between students and tutors must remain professional and educational.
Students and tutors must not use LearnLantern to arrange paid lessons, transactions, or tutoring relationships outside the platform when doing so is intended to avoid LearnLantern’s fees, policies, or booking systems.
LearnLantern may restrict or terminate accounts involved in circumvention, fraud, abuse, or unauthorized off-platform transactions.
Unless otherwise stated in a separate written agreement, tutors are independent service providers and are not employees, agents, partners, or legal representatives of LearnLantern.
LearnLantern may set platform rules, approve tutor participation, manage payments, and enforce quality standards, but tutors remain responsible for their own teaching methods, materials, availability, tax obligations, and professional conduct.
LearnLantern may provide messaging, booking, review, and communication tools.
To protect users, enforce these Terms, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and improve the Services, LearnLantern may review platform communications where permitted by law and consistent with our Privacy Policy.
Users should not share sensitive personal information through the platform unless necessary.
LearnLantern does not guarantee that all communications will be monitored or reviewed.
Classes may not be recorded, screenshotted, livestreamed, distributed, published, or shared without the explicit consent of all participants and, where required, LearnLantern.
If a class is recorded through an official LearnLantern feature, users will be notified where legally required.
Unauthorized recordings may result in account suspension or termination and may violate privacy, intellectual property, or other applicable laws.
The LearnLantern platform, website, software, designs, logos, branding, text, graphics, features, user interface, and related content are owned by LearnLantern or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from LearnLantern’s platform or content unless expressly permitted in writing.
You may submit reviews, feedback, profile information, messages, or other content through the platform.
You retain ownership of your original content.
By submitting content, you grant LearnLantern a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, host, store, reproduce, display, modify, adapt, and distribute that content as necessary to operate, improve, promote, and protect the Services.
You represent that you have the right to submit your content and that it does not violate any law or third-party rights.
LearnLantern may display, edit for clarity, moderate, remove, or decline to publish reviews or feedback that violate these Terms, appear fraudulent, contain personal information, or are otherwise inappropriate.
Feedback, suggestions, or ideas submitted to LearnLantern may be used without compensation or obligation to you.
Tutors retain ownership of their original teaching materials unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Students may use tutor-provided materials only for personal learning purposes and may not copy, sell, publish, distribute, or commercialize them without permission.
Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how LearnLantern collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information.
By using LearnLantern, you agree that your personal information may be processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
Because LearnLantern may be used internationally, your information may be processed in countries other than your own. LearnLantern will take reasonable steps to protect personal information consistent with applicable law.
LearnLantern aims to provide reliable access to the Services, but we do not guarantee that the platform will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available in every location.
The Services may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, technical problems, internet disruptions, third-party provider failures, security issues, or events outside LearnLantern’s control.
Users are responsible for having:
User-side technical issues generally do not qualify for refunds, except where required by applicable law or where LearnLantern decides otherwise.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, LearnLantern and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, business opportunity, or other intangible losses.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, LearnLantern’s total liability for claims arising out of or related to these Terms, the Services, payments, classes, tutors, or platform use will not exceed the greater of:
These limitations apply regardless of the legal theory, including contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence where applicable, or rights that cannot be waived under applicable consumer protection laws.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless LearnLantern, its affiliates, owners, officers, employees, contractors, and agents from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees, arising from:

You may stop using LearnLantern at any time.

Account termination does not automatically entitle you to a refund, unless required by law or expressly approved by LearnLantern.
LearnLantern may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account if we reasonably believe that:
Where practical and appropriate, LearnLantern may provide notice or an opportunity to respond. However, immediate action may be taken when needed for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or platform integrity.
If your account is terminated for serious misconduct, fraud, abuse, or circumvention, unused credits may be forfeited to the extent permitted by law.
LearnLantern may make decisions regarding tutor approval, tutor removal, pricing display, account status, moderation, refunds, credit adjustments, class disputes, reviews, and platform access.
These decisions will be made in good faith, based on available information, platform policies, and LearnLantern’s reasonable judgment.
Users may contact LearnLantern to request review of a decision. LearnLantern is not required to reverse a decision, but may do so when appropriate.
Nothing in these Terms prevents users from exercising legal rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
LearnLantern will not be liable for delays, interruptions, or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, power outages, internet failures, government actions, war, civil unrest, pandemics, labor disputes, payment processor outages, cyberattacks, or third-party platform failures.
LearnLantern may modify, update, replace, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time.
When changes materially affect paid users, LearnLantern will try to provide reasonable notice where practical. However, some changes may be made immediately for legal, security, technical, or operational reasons.
LearnLantern may update these Terms from time to time.
Changes will be posted on the platform or otherwise communicated where appropriate. The updated Terms will indicate the effective date.
Your continued use of LearnLantern after updated Terms take effect means you accept the changes.
If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Services and may cancel your subscription.
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where LearnLantern is legally established, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country, state, or region require otherwise.

For international users, mandatory consumer rights, local legal protections, and jurisdiction rules may apply regardless of the governing law stated in these Terms.
If any provision of these Terms is found invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary.
The remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
If LearnLantern does not enforce a provision of these Terms, that does not mean LearnLantern waives the right to enforce it later.
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without LearnLantern’s prior written consent.
LearnLantern may assign or transfer these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, restructuring, or transfer of business operations.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional policies or terms referenced by LearnLantern, form the entire agreement between you and LearnLantern regarding the Services.
They replace any prior agreements, communications, or understandings related to the Services.
